Happy Birthday Carla! As usual, Beth's wry sense of humor makes for a very entertaining post!
And BTW, I like the candy stripe sari!! Yes, the candy stripe is different and a non traditional design, but is simple and provides a punch of color on an otherwise mostly monochromatic sari. And I like the silver embroidery on the sleeves of her choli and the silver dots on the sari. The fabric is of high quality and its diaphanous weave must be cool in the heat. Besides she must have to buy so many saris given all of her public appearances -- I say sporting different looks keep things interesting!
Also, am wondering... for most Americans, the diagonal red and white stripe evokes a very commercial image of peppermint candy canes enjoyed over the Christmas holiday. I wonder if it has the same connotation in India?
